Criteria for Inclusion in the List of Sun Protective Product Manufacturers and Retailers

Clothing, Hats and Swimsuits: Manufacturers and retailers included in the list are American or Canadian sun protection companies whose fabrics are tested for UV transmittance using American or Australian test methods. Their fabrics provide good, very good or excellent UV protection. Fabrics block at least 93 percent UVA and UVB radiation and have an Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF rating) of 15 to 50+.

(Exception: Sun Precautions was approved by the FDA at one time as a medical device and continues to use SPF)
